i’m going to cry
This month (along with many other things) is PitBull Awareness Month.
This is something that I am very passionate about. Pits are the most lovable dog i have ever come to know. I voluenteer at a rescue shelter even though its spesificly for Greyhounds other dogs can board there. ( Boarding is like if you’re leaving lets say a week for somthing and you have nowhere to put fido TADA we allow them to stay)
I have been at this place for a little over a year now and i have seen all types of non grey(hound)s. There was about three pits when i was there and they were the best behaved out of the forty or so dogs there.
There was this one pit (whom i cant say names because she was big in the news) who had one eye and was partially deaf (cant state why) and in contrast popular belief of pitbulls she was scared frightened and generally was shy. Towards the end of her stay she was open and loving and an amazing dog.
My Favorite saying is “Blame The deed not the Breed” because the monster is on the other end of the leash. Us. Now I’m not saying us us but i mean ones who raise them wrongly.
Pitts are born innocent but the hand that raises them convert them into monsters that the public majority sees them as.
Dog fighting is so absurd and inhumane i dont know where to start.
I live in Philly so to put it gently I was very Pissed when A) Michael Vick joined the team and b) he got another dog and C) when i found out that he didnt serve his full sentence in prison.
to stress point B: he shouldn’t be able to get another one. And when his children ask why they cant he would say daddy was an idiot and fought dogs for fun.
Fighting is now illegal but its still being done underground. The way the dogs are treated is sickening especially with the bait dogs. Bait dogs are dogs that get used for practice. They don’t fight back and just let the other dog attack them. it truely horrid.
In Truth Pit Bulls are kind calm and loving. Its the hand which raises them, that brings them down. they are great with children and were once nicknamed “the nanny dog’. A Pit was Petey in the Little Rascals. its just amazing how compassionate these dogs are.
I didnt mean to seem agressive on this post. if i did i am sorry.
